So, I've finally got an edit I'm reasonably happy with... I think this is it...

Break Wk3 - I'm going mental! The Birds! The Birds!
Just a quick note to highlight that my schedule at the moment is mental and as a result, I'm going mental. I'm finally back to the bird transition. It's nice working in Nuke. But with 32 frames, all offset and mirrored to produced different shapes and with 52 feathers... this final sequence it doing my head in. Argh!

Wk13 - Decision time - Flower + Bird = Flird.
Looking back, I've enjoyed playing and experimenting with various cameras and perspectives but there comes a time when you much decide what you're going to submit... thus after the whole fishbowl incident, I've decided to go with the footage I already have of the flower since it's interesting and with limited success, I'm going to attach the birds to it... Cross fingers.

Wk12 - GoPro saved by Shoelace!!!
So, I have a bit of a story to tell today - I attached the GoPro to the side of my car today... just thought I'd check out the perspective... anyway... teach me to clean the surface first... I was about 3 minutes into my drive, doing 80km/h and the GoPro suction cup gives way... luckily I've been using a shoelace as a safety-rope... it luckily held and the camera didn't go flying but two lessons: 1) be paranoid 2) clean a surface before using a suction cap on it. Hmmm.

Wk12 - Broke Toad Hall Fish Bowl. Brilliant. :(
In an effort to use a larger bowl with the flower as Riley suggested, I borrowed the Toad Hall one... yeah, broke it before I could use it. Brilliant. Not.

Wk12 - Did someone say Birds?
I finally have a use for some footage that I shot back in June, 2010. Essentially, I put the camera down, a bird landed in front of it then took off in full view... brilliant silhouette.
So, I was looking at the tea and I'm thinking if I redo the tea again and get a better picture, I had maybe make it transition to a silhouette then turn into a multitude of birds... I think it might work... Gonna do a test now to check it out.

Wk11 - Flower Tea - Lovely.
This was such a lovely task... filming tea inside my fish bowl. There I was sitting in the driveway in the sun, fish bowl, tea, camera, black card... brilliant.
UPDATE: One bad thing - the reflections are really bad. :( Might still be useful though. Riley suggests trying a bigger bowl... I know which one to use. :)

Wk11 - Frame Substractor - Awesome find.
While I was searching for a multi-screen video player/synch system for my major, I came across Frame Substractor by the same developer (http://www.zachpoff.com/software/frame-subtractor/) This thing is brilliant. I really like the effect it makes... it seems to almost create water-colour paintings of my day-time driving footage. I like a lot. Gotta think of something good to use it for though. Hmm...
On a side note, I used it on some steps I shot earlier and my feed were essentially erased... I'm thinking the same thing could be achieved if I were to shoot footage of Northbourne of of Garema... More food for thought.

Wk11 - Gold Creek Lights. Pfft.
So I was reading on the RiotACT (http://the-riotact.com/aliens-in-gold-creek/57134) about some coloured building up in Gold Creek... so I decided to go up and take a look. Not quite as exciting as they were describing but I did get some nice footage... Unfortunately, it was short lived... I was there for only 4 minutes and all the lights were turned off. And I'd travelled from Wanniassa too... what a bitch!

Wk11 - GoPro on Bonet = Brilliance.
So, I finally got around to attaching the GoPro to the car and going for a drive with it attached to the bonet. I did some day-time footage a couple days ago and I did the same thing tonight. Clearly the GoPro is made for day time but still... I'm thinking that maybe that perspective idea I had might work well as a car instead. Hmmm...

Wk11 - Cry. Memory card and reader lost! :(
Looked everywhere... My only explanation is that someone has picked it up from the lab and stolen it. Even checked with JP and ANU security. Can't use my GoPro or my normal camera without a memory card. Jeez. Argh.

Wk10 - Public Holiday x3 = badness!
2, 9, 16/10 without comp class... this isn't a good thing. Too much of everything else happening for me to get back to my experimentation. :(

Wk8 - GoPro & Multi-Image Capture Test. I'm old.
I've been playing with the idea of attaching the GoPro to my body in different locations then doing the same task over and over then somehow stitch it back together and get the perspective from the different parts of the body...
I tried it this afternoon. I'm getting too old. I walked down the stairs and across the music school courtyard and down toward the city six times with the camera strapped to my wrists, ankles, chest and head... I decided against using footage and used time-lapse instead... in order to avoid the blur that would happen...
[insert test combination]
Kinda fail. 1) I can't think of a way to put it back together in a cohesive way, especially if I was quicker on a particular take. 2) the photos lost the impact that the blur would have given.
On the other hand though, seeing a sequence of hovering legs is very weird and interesting.

Break Wk2 - GoPro, Afternoon/Night Timelapse
I reiterate that timelapse is where it's at... I'm thinking about going to Northborne and doing some there... or in a flowerbed at Floriade... Hmmm.

Break Wk2 - GoPro, Morning Timelapse.
So far, this is the best use for the GoPro yet... I made it take photos every 5 seconds... it produced great imagery/footage.

Break Wk1 - Spycam + Balloon = Crazy!
So... I got a tank of helium and 30 balloons from toys-r-us. Once I figured out how it worked... it
worked a treat.
It only took 3 balloons to make the spycam boyant.
BUT...
I took it out while it was very windy... not a good plan... the footage is worse than the footage taken when the camera was around the dogs collar. Oh well.
Might need to come up with some kind of brace to hold it in the right direction,
worked a treat.

Wk7 - SpyCam arrived! :D
It took a bit to figure out how it worked but it seems to work a treat. Amazing technology these days.
Naturally, I attached it to the dog, to my dash and to my foot as I went down to get petrol. The latter was the most interesting effect yet.
The impact of the footstep freezes movement while the other leg lifts causing an odd visual effect. Can't wait to film more.
[Insert sample shoe footage here]
One downside though, as you can see... it puts a hard-coded timestamp on the footage! I can change the font through firmware but I can't turn it off. Well done China! :)

Wk7 - GoPro + R/C @ Night = Some success. Fun.
It was a bit chilly and damp out tonight but I had a heck of a good time driving around ANY with the GoPro attached to the front of the R/C car... by the looks of it the footage in the dark is not useful but the bits under light a brilliant. My attempt to use lego lights on the front of the car was ridiculous... it did nothing.
The car is an absolute mess. Need bigger lights! Not just to have light but also it almost got run over by a car near the art school on the road. Eep.

Wk7 - GoPro + Fishbowl + Milk = Failure... again.
Another failure tonight. Again, it's to do with the depth of field... my fish bowl is way too small to focus on anything within the bowl itself.
Worth a try though. It would be interesting to put it in a fish tank at a pet shop... hmmm.

Wk7 - GoPro + R/C car = Awesomeness!
So, I made used one of the mounts for the GoPro and attached it to my Remote Control car.
The speed and the perspective is brilliant. When it runs across gravel, it is awesome. I can't be more excited by the footage being produced. I even took it through Union court... no one really took any notice. Odd.
Now I'm thinking... lights and night time.
