Complimentary Dilema Update #1

The decision to continue with Compositing has been made for me.  The outline for Compositing has 4x20% assignments and a 20% essay.   Self direction and experimentation seems impossible and the thought of another essay increases my stress levels beyond belief.

After a brief conversation with Lucien, I'm going to work on my idea under the Animation complimentary instead.  This is quite the relief.

Complimentary Dilema

So, I'm about to start week 2 and a couple people have mentioned an alternative concept which has a lot of merit for my complimentary course.

My original idea was supposed to be something simple, liquid mixing filmed then projected onto virtual, oscillating spheres.  Something simple and easy to achieve but replicated by about eight.

Anyway, during the first week I was diagnosed as being Dyslexic and such a revelation has opened another avenue for creative expression... I wouldn't mind conveying how I see things via a web-based/animation project.

I may have to discuss with Chris or maybe Kit since it's her class I'd be dropping.

Hmmm.

UPDATE: 28 Feb - My decision to continue with compositing has been made for me.  The outline for Compositing has 4x20% assignments and a 20% essay.   Self direction seems impossible and the thought of another essay increases my stress levels beyond belief.

Too much. Need a hug.

So, week one of uni comes to a close.

I was pretty upset this evening to be honest.

I think the stress of everything from this first week just piled up unexpectedly.

  • Digital media research & professional practice template
  • Follow-up Dyslexia assessment & Optometrist
  • Tests for doctor, including addressing my weight
  • Follow-up Austudy application
  • Empty my storage unit
  • Work (begin new huge project)

The net impact of all of this is that I shut down... unable to start any of these tasks.

My partner believes it takes such a toll on me because I mentally lump everything together whereas he's able to effectively compartmentalise everything.

Third Year! :-o

And so it begins... my 3rd and final year of my Visual Arts degree.

It holds a lot more meaning since we're no longer working toward only passing assignments but also have the weight of knowing that what we produce this year could have an impact on how we do back in the real world in this field.

Scary.

On a side note: All the non-Art Diary posts have been moved to my personal blog.
